R-EVG 40...400W/230V (for rack mounting)
R-EVG 400...600W/230V (for rack mounting)
EVG 200...400W/230V (standard housing)
EVG 400...600W/230V (standard housing)

Features

  • control of several ballast parameters:
    • lamp current
    • preheat enable/disable
    • preheat current
    • preheat time
  • rack mounting versions:
    • all connections (mains, lamp and control voltage, error control) routed through a MOLEX JUNIOR FIT connector
  • two operating modes selectable by DIP-switch: alternatively local control or remote control

Operating Mode 1: LOCAL CONTROL = use the DIP-switch to control the ballast parameters

local control features:

  • automatic switch-on when connected to mains
  • operation current adjustable in 8 steps (50...120%)
  • preheat on/off
  • preheat time (5s, 7s, 12s, 20s)
  • preheat current adjustable in 8 steps (50...120%)

Operating Mode 2: REMOTE CONTROL = control of ballast parameters via RS485

the onboard DIP-switch is used for the assignment of an unique address
for the ballasts identification on the serial bus

control features - via RS485:

  • switch on/off
  • status readout
  • operation current
  • preheat on/off
  • preheat time
  • preheat current

Using RS485 for Ballast Control

remote access to electronic ballasts:

  • control of several ballast parameters
  • remote control via RS485 serial bus
  • connect up to 256 devices to be controlled via the RS485 serial bus
  • address assignment for ballast identification by DIP-switch
  • available addresses: 0...511

software for ballast control:

  • all control functions are accessible with PLC or standard PC
  • interface protocol is revealed
  • open interface protocol allows integration in complex PLC- or PC-controlled uv-systems
  • open interface protocol allows third party´s adaptions
  • the adaption of the ballast control to the customers special control unit has to be performed by customer
  • control software ’’UV-Rack-Controller’’ available for ballast control by standard PC with OS WINDOWS

hardware for ballast control:

  • PLC - programmable logic controller
(direct connection via RS485 serial bus, no additional I/O-cards for ballast status indication necessary)
  • standard PC or Apple Computer (RS485/RS232-converter required)

Features

  • adjusted sensors for the complete output range of low and medium pressure lamps
  • the sensors are ready to be used in every low or medium pressure lamp system
  • no separate sensor adjustment for different uv-intensities and output values
  • no separate sensor adjustment for different uv-lamp/sensor arrangements

    absolute value detection:
    sensor output= [uv-value] W/m²

  • to monitor or to handle the measured uv-value there has to be no conversion from any current (4...20mA) or voltage (0...2/5/10V) output
(i.e. no additional PLC-I/O card for each sensor)
  • the measured uv-intensity is provided directly as plain text with numerical value and scale unit [W/m²]

the digital sensors are to be connected via RS485 serial bus

  • each sensor has a unique ID for identification on the serial bus
  • the digital sensors are to be connected
    • to a PLC
    • directly to stand-alone ZED uv monitors with RS485
    • with RS485/RS232 converter to standard PC or Apple MacIntosh

Advantages of using the RS485 bus:

  • connection of up to 256 devices (e.g. 255 digital sensors and one PLC as bus master)
  • each sensor identifies itself on the bus
  • management of all connected sensors
  • measurement value request

System integration:

  • control functions are accessible with PLC or standard PC
  • interface protocol is revealed for easy adaption to customer specific requirements
  • open interface protocol allows integration in complex PLC- or PC-controlled uv-systems
  • open interface protocol allows third party´s adaptions
  • the adaption of the sensors measurement value request to the customers special control unit has to be performed by customer
  • standard WINDOWS software ’’terminal.exe’’ for sensor monitoring by standard PC

measurement value request

by using standard WINDOWS-Software ’’terminal.exe’’
